Curriculum Intent

The NHLC curriculum is designed to adapt and shape the content and intentions of the National Curriculum to the needs of our SEMH pupils. This holistic approach to a coherently planned and sequenced curriculum will encourage critical thinking, confidence, emotional security, self-awareness and resilience, positive relationships and the curiosity to stimulate maximum engagement for the young people in our charge and enable them to move onto the next stage of their lives.

Our curriculum will instil respect, enjoyment and a deeper understanding of self, family, community and planet with direct intent to encompass outdoor experiences, life skills and nurturing growth mind-set. This curriculum will meet the needs of our learners and support the development of knowledge, skills and personal development and enable our young people to achieve beyond previous expectations.
