Keeping Children Safe

New Horizons Learning fully recognises its responsibility under section 175 of the Education Act 2002 to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. We work together with other agencies to ensure effective arrangements within our school to identify, assess and support children who are suffering from harm.

Safeguarding our school community is of paramount importance. We ensure that all our staff are aware of, and have the skills to deal with, any child protection or safeguarding concerns. We have robust recruitment procedures and professional development programmes which ensure that all our staff uphold our strong ethos and values. All of our staff receive yearly updates as part of their child protection training.

Designated Safeguarding Lead is:

Prevent Strategy

As part of New Horizons Learning Centre’s ongoing safeguarding and child protection duties we are fully behind the government’s Prevent Strategy. From 1 July 2015 all schools are subject to a duty under section 26 of the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015, in the exercise of their functions, to have “due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism”. This duty is known as the Prevent Duty for Schools. At New horizons Learning Centre, we build pupils’ resilience to radicalisation by promoting fundamental British values and enabling our pupils to challenge extremist views.
